# A Wegovy tracker for the pen or the pill

> A Wegovy tracker for the weekly pen or the daily Wegovy pill: log doses and injection sites, note side effects, and follow your weight as a weekly trend.

Canonical page: https://handlehealth.co/wegovy-tracker · Category: Trackers · Last checked against sources: 2026-09-24

Whether you inject Wegovy once a week or take the Wegovy pill each morning, a Wegovy tracker keeps the record straight: each dose and its timing, the injection site, how you felt and which way your weight is heading. Handle does it with free core tracking in its iPhone app, and leaves every dose decision to your prescriber.

## In short

- Tracking Wegovy comes down to four things: each dose and its timing, the site you injected, how your stomach coped in the weeks after each step up, and your weight as a weekly trend rather than a daily number.
- Wegovy injection is a once-weekly semaglutide pen from Novo Nordisk, made in strengths from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg, plus a 7.2 mg pen (Wegovy HD) that the FDA approved on 19 March 2026.[1][2]
- In the US it is approved for weight management in adults and in children 12 and older with obesity, for lowering the risk of major heart events in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight, and for a liver disease called MASH.[1]
- The Wegovy pill, a once-daily semaglutide tablet approved on 22 December 2025, is taken on an empty stomach with up to 4 ounces of water, followed by a wait of at least 30 minutes.[1][3]
- Handle records both for free, with the pill added under "Something else", and never gives dose advice.

## What to record in a Wegovy tracker

A short list kept honestly beats a detailed one you abandon.

- **Each dose, as taken.** Weekly for the pen, daily for the pill. Late and missed doses belong on the record too; they're information, not a mark against you.
- **Which pen and strength.** Wegovy comes in single-dose pens, the four-dose FlexTouch pen and prefilled syringes, so note the device as well as the amount.[1]
- **Your injection site.** The label says to rotate injection sites with each dose, across the abdomen, thigh and upper arm.[1]
- **Side effects after each step up.** In the label's trials, stomach side effects were most often reported during dose escalation.[1]
- **Weight as a weekly trend.** Single mornings mislead; weekly averages show the direction.
- **Food, protein and fluids.** Eating less is expected. On days your stomach is unsettled, fluids matter: the label links dehydration to kidney problems.[1] For food itself, see our guide to [what to eat on Wegovy and Ozempic](https://handlehealth.co/what-to-eat-on-ozempic).

### Log your Wegovy dose and site together (in Handle)

Set up your plan once, pen or pill, with the prescribed amount and schedule. From then on, logging is a tap to confirm, plus the site for the pen, with your previous site on show.

- The amount as prescribed, whichever pen or syringe you use
- Daily or weekly reminders in the iPhone app
- Late entries accepted for up to 30 days

## Wegovy injection basics

From the US prescribing information. The amount you take, and when it changes, is your prescriber's decision.

| | Wegovy injection |
|---|---|
| Made by | Novo Nordisk |
| Medicine | Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist[1] |
| How it's taken | Under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals[1] |
| Single-dose pens | 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7, 2.4 and 7.2 mg; the 7.2 mg pen is sold as Wegovy HD[1][2] |
| Other forms | Wegovy FlexTouch, a four-dose pen that delivers 2.4 mg per injection; prefilled syringes from 0.25 to 2.4 mg[1] |
| Injection sites | Abdomen, thigh or upper arm, rotated with each dose[1] |
| Approved in the US for | Weight management (adults, and children 12 and older with obesity); lowering heart-event risk in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight; MASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (accelerated approval)[1] |
| Half-life | About 1 week; semaglutide stays in the circulation for about 5 to 7 weeks after a last dose of 2.4 mg or 7.2 mg[1] |
| Storage | Fridge, 2–8 °C. If needed, a single-dose pen or syringe can be kept at 8–30 °C for up to 28 days before the cap comes off; FlexTouch keeps for 56 days after first use[1] |

*The label notes that FlexTouch is not recommended for self-injection by people who are visually impaired.[1] For where to inject and how to rotate, see [Wegovy and Ozempic injection sites](https://handlehealth.co/ozempic-injection-sites).*

### Your weight, drawn as weeks rather than mornings (in Handle)

On Journey, your weight appears as weekly averages over the weeks you choose, with each Wegovy dose drawn as a step line below. Check-in answers, meals and training sit on the same timeline. Handle doesn't say how any of them relate; that conversation belongs to you and your prescriber.

- Weigh any day you like, with no reminders to weigh
- Pen and pill doses on one record
- Strength training and cardio tallied apart

## A week on Wegovy, recorded

A routine for the record, not a treatment plan: your prescriber sets the amount and any changes.

- **Dose day — Log the dose and the site.** Confirm the dose and pick the site. Handle shows the last one, so choosing another is easy.
- **The days after — Check in briefly.** Nausea is asked every day; add the symptoms you care about, such as constipation or fatigue.
- **Any morning — Weigh if you want to.** Handle never asks you to weigh or counts the days you did. Readings become weekly averages.
- **Every day — Glance at food and fluids.** Protein and fluid totals, with no target unless your clinician set one.
- **Before a review — Gather the summary.** The consultation report, a Premium feature, pulls the weeks into one page for your clinician.

*If a dose is missed or late, the Wegovy label has one rule for the pen and another for the pill, so ask your prescriber or pharmacist. Handle simply records what happened.*

### Note side effects while they're fresh (in Handle)

Nausea is asked every day. Switch on others such as constipation, vomiting or heartburn, and add up to six tracked symptoms, like fatigue or belching, or one in your own words. The card never grows because of what you answered.

If an answer such as severe nausea calls for it, Handle shows a clear next step, like contacting your care team. It never diagnoses and isn't a monitoring or emergency service, so if you feel very unwell, go straight to your clinician or emergency services.

- Switch symptoms on or off at any time
- A private daily note that nothing reads
- Missed days can be filled in within 30 days

## Wegovy side effects worth writing down

From three placebo-controlled trials of the 2.4 mg injection in adults, lasting up to 68 weeks. These reactions were most often reported during dose escalation.[1]

| Side effect | Placebo | Wegovy 2.4 mg |
|---|---|---|
| Nausea | 16% | 44% |
| Diarrhea | 16% | 30% |
| Vomiting | 6% | 24% |
| Constipation | 11% | 24% |
| Abdominal pain | 10% | 20% |
| Headache | 10% | 14% |
| Fatigue | 5% | 11% |
| Indigestion (dyspepsia) | 3% | 9% |
| Dizziness | 4% | 8% |
| Belching (eructation) | Under 1% | 7% |
| Hair loss | 1% | 3% |

*Source: Wegovy prescribing information, Table 3.[1] In the 7.2 mg trials, the label also reports dysesthesia, an altered skin sensation such as burning or skin pain, in 22% of people on 7.2 mg, against 6% on 2.4 mg and 0.3% on placebo; you can track it in Handle as a symptom in your own words.[1] More in [Wegovy side effects](https://handlehealth.co/wegovy-side-effects).*

> **When to get medical help quickly**
> - Severe stomach pain that doesn't ease, with or without nausea or vomiting, sometimes spreading to your back: call your healthcare provider right away, as the label warns about pancreatitis.[1]
> - Swelling in your face, lips, tongue or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing: get medical help right away.[1]
> - Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea that won't go away: tell your healthcare provider right away, as losing fluids can cause kidney problems.[1]
> - Pain in your upper stomach, fever, yellowing of your skin or eyes, or clay-colored stools: call your healthcare provider about possible gallbladder problems.[1]

## Wegovy pill tracker: what's different about the tablet

The Wegovy pill is semaglutide in tablet form, taken once a day. The FDA approved it on 22 December 2025 for weight management in adults and for lowering the risk of major heart events in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight.[1][3] It isn't approved for teenagers or for MASH; those uses belong to the injection.[1]

The tablets come in 1.5, 4, 9 and 25 mg. As with the injection, the label starts low and steps up gradually, and your prescriber sets the steps.[1]

### How the label says to take the Wegovy pill

- One tablet a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach.[1]
- With water only, up to 4 ounces, and no other drink with it.[1]
- Swallowed whole: not split, crushed, chewed or dissolved.[1]
- A wait of at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.[1]
- Stored at room temperature (20–25 °C) in the original bottle, away from moisture.[1]

UK guidance words it differently: fast for at least 8 hours beforehand, take it with a sip of water, then have no food or drink for at least 30 minutes.[7]

### How to record the Wegovy pill in Handle

The Wegovy pill isn't in Handle's medicine list yet. Choose "Something else", name it "Wegovy pill", and enter the amount your prescriber set with a once-daily schedule. From then on it works like any other medicine: dose logging without an injection site, the check-in, weight, food, Journey and the consultation report.

If you move between the pill and the pen, update your plan when your prescriber makes the change, and both stay on one record. Compare the two in [Wegovy pill vs injection](https://handlehealth.co/wegovy-pill-vs-injection).

### A clear record for your next review (Handle Premium)

The consultation report is built for review day: every Wegovy dose, including changes of strength or a move between pen and pill, next to your weight history, symptom summaries, nutrition and activity, with an optional note about what you'd like to discuss.

- Share a secure link; revoke it at any time
- Your clinician doesn't need an account
- Private notes stay out of it

## Wegovy in the UK

In England, NICE recommends semaglutide for weight management on the NHS only within a specialist weight management service, for up to 2 years, for people who meet its criteria.[8]

The MHRA approved a 7.2 mg dose on 6 January 2026 for adults with obesity and a BMI of 30 or more, and a single-dose 7.2 mg pen on 14 April 2026.[5][6] The Wegovy tablet was approved on 11 June 2026 but isn't currently available through the NHS.[7] Whether your Wegovy comes through the NHS or privately, the record you keep is the same.

## Wegovy tracker app, tracking sheet or journal?

| | Handle | Tracking sheet or journal |
|---|---|---|
| Pen and pill on one record | Yes, including a switch between them | Two sets of columns |
| Injection site | Picked in a tap, last site shown | Written each time |
| Reminders | Daily or weekly, in the iPhone app | None |
| Weight | Weekly averages, charted | A list of numbers |
| Food, protein and fluids | Daily totals | A separate log, if any |
| For your prescriber | Consultation report link (Premium) | Bring the pages |
| Dose advice | Never | None |

*If you'd rather use a tracking sheet, our [free printable GLP-1 tracker](https://handlehealth.co/printable-glp-1-tracker) works for the pen or the pill.*

### Wegovy's own app

Novo Nordisk makes a free app for people starting Wegovy, WeGoTogether. As listed on the App Store in September 2026, it lets you log your dose, schedule check-in reminders and track when you take your medication, with weekly progress charts and educational content.[9] Handle works with every GLP-1 and centres on a daily symptom check-in, food and fluid totals, weight as weekly averages and a report for your clinician (a Premium feature). You can use both.

## Questions to take to your prescriber

1. Is the pen or the pill a better fit for me, and why?
2. Which side effects should I report straight away?
3. If I miss a dose of the pen or the pill, what should I do? Their rules differ.
4. What will tell us it's working, and when is our next review?
5. The label asks me to tell healthcare providers I take Wegovy before any planned procedure.[1] Is there anything else they need to know?

## Questions people ask

### Is there an app to track Wegovy?

Yes. Handle tracks Wegovy injections and the Wegovy pill in its iPhone app: doses and injection sites, a short daily check-in, your weight, and food and fluids. Novo Nordisk also offers its own app, WeGoTogether. For other medicines, see our [GLP-1 tracker guide](https://handlehealth.co/glp-1-tracker).

### Can I track the Wegovy pill in Handle?

Yes. It isn't in the medicine list yet, so choose "Something else", name it "Wegovy pill", and enter the amount your prescriber set with a once-daily schedule. Tablets are logged without an injection site; the check-in, weight, food, Journey and the consultation report treat it like any other medicine.

### How do you take the Wegovy pill?

The US label says to take one tablet a day in the morning on an empty stomach, with up to 4 ounces of plain water, swallowed whole. Then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.[1] Follow the instructions your prescriber and pharmacist give you.

### Where do you inject Wegovy?

The label lists the abdomen, thigh and upper arm, and says to rotate injection sites with each dose. Its instructions add: keep 2 inches away from your belly button, and avoid skin that is tender, bruised, red or hard.[1] Handle keeps the site with each logged dose.

### What strengths does Wegovy come in?

Single-dose pens come in 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7, 2.4 and 7.2 mg (Wegovy HD), the FlexTouch pen delivers 2.4 mg per dose, and tablets come in 1.5, 4, 9 and 25 mg.[1][2] Which you use, and when that changes, is your prescriber's decision.

### Does Wegovy need to be refrigerated?

Pens and syringes are stored in the fridge at 2–8 °C. If needed, a single-dose pen or syringe can be kept at 8–30 °C for up to 28 days before the cap comes off, and FlexTouch keeps for 56 days after first use. The pill is stored at room temperature.[1]

### How long does Wegovy stay in your system?

Semaglutide's half-life is about a week, and the label says it stays in the circulation for about 5 to 7 weeks after a last injection of 2.4 mg or 7.2 mg, or a last 25 mg tablet.[1] For a visual estimate built from your logged injections, there is Between doses, a Premium feature; it is a model, not a blood test. Our guide to the [Wegovy half-life](https://handlehealth.co/ozempic-half-life) covers the pen and the pill.

### Is the Wegovy pill the same as Ozempic tablets?

No. Both are once-daily semaglutide tablets from Novo Nordisk, but the Wegovy pill (1.5, 4, 9 and 25 mg) is for weight management and heart risk, while Ozempic tablets (1.5, 4 and 9 mg) are for type 2 diabetes.[1][4] Record whichever you're prescribed by its exact name.

## About Handle

Handle is a GLP-1 treatment companion. It keeps your dose record, a short daily check-in, weight, food, drinks and activity in one calm place, and turns them into a summary you can choose to share with your clinician.

Handle supports recording and conversations with your care team. It does not diagnose, and it never tells you to start, change, skip or stop a dose. This page is general information, not medical advice. Always follow your prescriber and your medicine's instructions for use.
