MyFitnessPal alternative
A MyFitnessPal alternative for life on a GLP-1
MyFitnessPal is a food and fitness app with about 2.4 million ratings on the US App Store, and it now logs GLP-1 doses too.1 If you're looking for a MyFitnessPal alternative because your treatment, not your calorie count, is what you most want to keep track of, here's what its GLP-1 support does, where it stops, and how Handle compares. Every MyFitnessPal fact comes from its own help center, website and App Store listing, checked on September 23, 2026.

In short
- MyFitnessPal lets you log a GLP-1 dose, its time and injection location beside your food, but only in the US (iOS and Android) and Canada (iOS), with the app set to English, and in milligrams only.2
- In its own words, MyFitnessPal "does not verify your medication, dose, or timing, and doesn't alert you to missed doses, interactions, or side effects," and its help article doesn't say which plan includes GLP-1 tracking.2
- On September 23, 2026, MyFitnessPal's website listed Premium at $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month, with a 7-day free trial; Premium adds the barcode scanner, Meal Scan, data export and ad-free use.3,4
- Handle is a MyFitnessPal alternative built around the treatment itself: your prescribed plan, each dose and injection site, a short daily check-in, weight trends from weekly averages and food and fluid totals, plus a consultation report built for clinicians as a Premium feature.
- If calorie goals, barcode scanning or a far larger food database matter most, MyFitnessPal will likely suit you better, and you can always use both.1,4
Does MyFitnessPal track GLP-1?
Yes, within limits it sets out itself. Its GLP-1 Support feature "lets you track your GLP-1 medication dose, time, and injection location right alongside your food," with a dose reminder and a Side Effects card where you choose symptoms and their severity.2 The help article, updated September 21, 2026, also says:
- GLP-1 tracking is available only in the US (iOS and Android) and Canada (iOS), with the app set to English.2
- "Milligrams is the only unit available right now."2
- It is built for GLP-1 medicines only, not other medications or supplements.2
- MyFitnessPal "does not verify your medication, dose, or timing, and doesn't alert you to missed doses, interactions, or side effects."2
- It doesn't say whether GLP-1 tracking needs Premium, and no estimated medication-level chart is described.2
So if you live in the UK or Australia, or use Android in Canada, MyFitnessPal's GLP-1 tracking isn't offered to you at the moment. Handle's treatment record is built for iPhone, with kilograms or pounds.
What MyFitnessPal does well
MyFitnessPal calls itself "the AI-powered food & fitness tracker," and food is where it shines.1 The free version covers food and exercise logging, custom foods, meals and recipes, measurements, macros, goals by percentage, diary sharing and connections with partner apps.4
It runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS, and on the web, and its App Store listing names 20 languages. On September 23, 2026, it had about 2.4 million ratings on the US App Store, averaging 4.7.1

Food and fluid totals, without a calorie goal by default
Appetite often drops on a GLP-1, and fluids matter when your stomach is unsettled. Handle adds up what you eat and drink for the day. It never invents a calorie, protein or water target; if your clinician set one, you can record it, with who set it. More in our GLP-1 food tracker guide.
- Food search using USDA data
- Protein, calorie and fluid totals for the day
- Photo scanning (Premium): review and edit before saving

Where Handle differs as a MyFitnessPal alternative
MyFitnessPal added GLP-1 logging to a food diary. Handle starts from the treatment and puts food beside it.
- Built around your prescribed plan. You record the medicine, amount and schedule your prescriber set: weekly, daily or twice-daily, injected or oral. Every dose sits against that plan, and switches stay on the record. See our Ozempic tracker and Mounjaro tracker pages.
- A daily check-in you choose. Nausea every day, plus the symptoms you switch on and up to six more you track, such as heartburn or fatigue. It stays the same short card whatever you answer. Our GLP-1 side effect tracker guide explains the approach.
- A report your clinician can simply open. MyFitnessPal's free printable report is on its website only, and diary sharing needs your doctor to create a MyFitnessPal account.5 Handle's consultation report, a Premium feature, is a summary rather than a diary, shared by a secure link your clinician opens without an account and you can revoke. See our list of questions to ask your doctor about GLP-1.
- No calorie goal unless your clinician set one. Handle totals what you eat and drink but never sets a calorie, protein or water target itself.
- Weight without a verdict. Trends come from weekly averages, and there are no streaks and no reminders to weigh in.
- No ads. Handle has no advertising and doesn't sell personal information.10 MyFitnessPal's free version has ads, which Premium removes.1,4

Every dose on the record, site included
Add your prescribed plan once, and logging a dose is quick: the amount, the time and, for injections, the site. Handle shows where you injected last time and leaves the next choice to you.
- Weekly, daily or twice-daily; injected or oral
- Abdomen, thigh or upper arm, left or right
- Forgot? Add it later, up to 30 days back, with the real date kept

When MyFitnessPal may suit you better
For plenty of people, MyFitnessPal is the right tool. It probably is if:
- You want calorie and macro goals. MyFitnessPal builds them into the diary: by percentage for free, by meal with Premium.4 Handle deliberately sets none.
- You scan barcodes and want a huge food database. MyFitnessPal's database is far larger than Handle's USDA-based search, and its barcode scanner comes with Premium.1,4 Handle has no barcode scanner.
- You want exercise and wearables in the same app. MyFitnessPal logs workouts and steps and connects with fitness trackers and smartwatches.1 Handle doesn't read health data from your phone or watch.10
- You want meal plans. Premium+ adds a meal planner and grocery lists in six countries.4
- You'd rather use another language. MyFitnessPal's App Store listing names 20 languages, though its GLP-1 tracking needs the app set to English.1,2 Handle is in English only.
- You have years of food history there. You don't have to choose: keep MyFitnessPal for food and use Handle for your treatment record.
Handle PremiumPremium
A consultation report, ready before your appointment
Turn your record into a summary your clinician can read quickly: your medication record including switches, weight history, symptom summaries, nutrition and activity, and an optional note about what you want to discuss.
- Share a secure link, and revoke it any time
- Your private daily notes are never included
- Your clinician needs no account
Premium is an optional subscription in the iPhone app.

Questions people ask
Does MyFitnessPal track GLP-1 medication?+
Yes, in the US (iOS and Android) and Canada (iOS), with the app set to English. You can log a GLP-1 dose with its time and injection location, set a reminder and record side effects with a severity. Doses are in milligrams only, and the feature is for GLP-1 medicines only.2
Is MyFitnessPal's GLP-1 tracking free?+
MyFitnessPal's GLP-1 Support article doesn't say whether it needs Premium, so check in the app.2 What its help center does spell out is that the barcode scanner, Meal Scan, data export and ad-free use are Premium features.4 In Handle, dose logging, injection sites and the daily check-in are all free.
Can I track GLP-1 in MyFitnessPal in the UK?+
Not at the moment. MyFitnessPal's help article says GLP-1 tracking is available only in the US (iOS and Android) and Canada (iOS), with the app set to English.2 If you're logging a Mounjaro jab in the UK, Handle is built for iPhone, with kilograms or pounds; see our Mounjaro tracker.
Is there a free alternative to MyFitnessPal?+
For a GLP-1 treatment record, yes: Handle's free plan covers doses, injection sites, a daily check-in, weight, food, fluids and activity, with no ads. For calorie counting, other food trackers have free tiers too; Cronometer's Basic plan costs $0 and includes its barcode scanner.8 See our free GLP-1 tracker guide.
How much is MyFitnessPal Premium?+
On September 23, 2026, MyFitnessPal's website listed Premium at $79.99 a year or $19.99 a month, with a 7-day free trial.3 Premium adds ad-free use, the barcode scanner, Meal Scan, data export, intermittent fasting and macros by meal; Premium+ adds a meal planner and grocery lists.4
Does MyFitnessPal alert you to missed doses or side effects?+
No. Its help article says MyFitnessPal "does not verify your medication, dose, or timing, and doesn't alert you to missed doses, interactions, or side effects."2 Handle isn't a monitoring service either: it records what you enter, never diagnoses and never gives dose advice. For anything that worries you, contact your care team.
Does Handle count calories?+
Handle adds up what you eat and drink for the day, including calories, protein and fluids, but it never sets a calorie goal of its own. A target appears only if your clinician set one and you recorded it, with who set it. If you want calorie and macro goals in your food diary, MyFitnessPal suits you better.4
What's the best MyFitnessPal alternative for Ozempic or Mounjaro?+
It depends on what you want to track. If calories and macros come first, a food tracker with GLP-1 features may suit you. If you mainly want your doses, injection sites, symptoms and weight in one record to share with your prescriber, a GLP-1 tracker fits better. See our Ozempic tracker and Mounjaro tracker pages.
